In fact, this is the first stage of catching your potential customers online by discovering (through research) the search words that your potential customers and buyers are using to find services or products like yours. When you are fully convinced that a lot of people are using search words that perfectly reflect your business, then it is a good sign to build your content on those keywords. The downside, however, of this technique is that many website owners—not only you—are doing the same thing.
If many of your competitors are using the same keywords as you, it may be good to modify your search and opt for keywords which are less popular. In this way, you are likely able to generate a strong website traffic. The beauty of SEO and website optimization is that you are able to establish your business online with the use of keywords that uniquely identify your website content.
Place your keywords in the right place
When you have fully identified your keywords, you have to place them in two strategic places: in the code and in the visible content.
- Placing keywords in the code. The search engines identifies a keyword with a webpage, and so it is perfect to place your keywords in the coding, that is, within head tag which is also tasked to define a page overall characteristics. Also incorporate your keywords in the title, description and keyword tags. Since search engines quote the description and the titles, it is important that titles are only six to 12 words and description must be 12 to 24 words. In this way, there is a greater chance that your website will be picked up by search engines.
- In the visible content. Another SEO and website optimization technique is to place your keywords in the visible content. There is actually no rule as to how densely you populate your text with keywords. But one thing is certain: search engines, especially Google, hate keyword spamming. So it may be to your advantage to use keywords naturally throughout the content so as not to be penalized.
Build a well-functioning website
Finally, the design of your website also plays an important role in your overall SEO and website optimization efforts. In fact, your search engine ranking will greatly be affected by how your website is organized and built, not to mention the design (which greatly appeals to visitors). The perfect way to do it is to line up your content by how people search and by grouping similar pages into separate directories of folders and subfolders.
